Dating back to the early to mid-19th century, German Village was settled by German immigrants who at one time made up one-third of Columbus’ population. Today, after significant restoration efforts, the history of German Village is preserved and reflected in its brick-lined streets and restored brick homes. The neighborhood is home to some of Columbus’ most famous eateries – Schmidt’s Sausage Haus, Thurman’s, Pistacia Vera and many others. Each year, Villagers open their home for the annual Haus und Garten Tour. The holiday’s Village Lights and the annual Village Valuables Yard Sale are major draws in the City.

Schumacher Place features similar architectural styles and historic charm as neighboring German Village. Its proximity to popular Frank Fetch and Schiller Parks along with its easy access to Nationwide Children’s Hospital make it an attractive area to those looking for a neighborhood rooted in history.
